SmartPesa partners with Paymob to launch Tap On Phone

Egypt – SmartPesa, a leading provider of payment and agency banking solutions, has partnered with leading acquirer Paymob to roll out their latest Tap on Phone payment acceptance solution in Egypt.

At a time when rapid changes in digital payments are taking place, the project is being deployed in half the time usually taken through seamless integration into Paymob’s existing POS solution and pre-certified connection to the Mastercard Payment Gateway Services.

Using SmartPesa’s SoftPOS technology, Paymob’s new Tap on Phone solution can transform everyday mobile devices into contactless payment acceptance terminals instantly and remotely, at no additional hardware costs. Onboarding is made simple for merchants — just download an app, go through a customer verification process and start accepting contactless payments within the same day.

“The 1.7 million small businesses in Egypt have faced critical disruptions with the ongoing global pandemic and changing preference towards contactless. According to a Mastercard report, although confidence among SMEs in Egypt is on the rise, 50% identified rising costs of doing business as a major concern. SmartPesa’s solutions are already PCI DSS Level 1 and CPoC certified and support PIN on Glass for transactions over CVM limits. A one-stop spManage platform also allows for centralized administration, merchant enrolment and business analytics, further improving acquiring efficiency and lowering operating costs.
